Finding the right job for you can be a long process which could take weeks or even months. Jobs won't fall in your lap if you don't apply yourself and take advantage of those that are available. You must stay positive in your job search and not give up when there seems to be little hope for employment. Even in the worse economic situations there are job openings available some place somewhere. You will have to do extensive researching until you find which type of job you're looking for. You must stay motivated no matter how bleak your situation may become.

The number one tool for job search, is using the internet to find job openings. This is a great tool that can be extremely helpful. Before, if you were applying for a job you would have to physically go to each location, ask for an application, fill it out, and send return it back to them. Now with online applications job searching is much more convenient and you can apply to hundreds of jobs without leaving the house. Also, because you have applied online doesn’t mean you should actually go to the location of your desired job. Even if a job posting is not seen online form an employer doesn’t mean a position is not available. Ask them if they are hiring at the time, if not when will positions become available.

While the internet is a great tool, it is not the only one at your disposal. The newspaper also posts new job openings every day. Even though people now days, especially the younger generations, rarely read the newspaper, it is still a valuable resource to find jobs. Read the newspaper everyday and apply to jobs that might interest you. Be sure to do it quickly because the job may be filled fast. There are many people looking for similar work so the faster you call the employer the better your chances will be.

Another resource that should be taken advantage of is talking with your friends, family, and anyone you know that may have connections in the field you’re looking to enter. The more people that know you are looking for a job the better your chances are in establishing yourself for an interview. If they are in a field you’re interested ask them how they received the job and how you can also get started. They could have some important information which can help you for future employment.

Another tool which can be used is job placement organizations, these are designed to help those who are looking for work and are located across the nation free of charge. Job placement organizations with your help determine if you have the necessary skills for the jobs you are applying for such as entry level, part time, or full time positions. If the job placement official feels that you fit some of the qualifications for a specific job or jobs, they will contact the employer and set up an interview. Private agencies are also available which will contact employers for you but require a fee for their services. If you are willing to pay be aware of all the costs and charges before committing to them. If you feel their services are worth being charged for, it may create leads and job interviews for you.

Job fairs are also another tool that should be used by job seekers. Job fairs are virtually in every city and occur fairly frequently. By putting out your resume and interest at job fairs, you will greatly increase your chances of becoming hired. Employers are always looking for the next generations of employees to fill job positions. By attending such job fairs, you will show the employees how serious you are in becoming employed by them. Also, this is a great way to let them see your face and meet you ''one-on-one'' instead of just looking at your resume online. You will be able to make a good impression on them and show you are the candidate for the position. Everything you say and do at a job fair is being analyzed whether you realize it or not. Employers seek professionals you are serious and provide professional looking resumes.

Regardless of how much you think you’re qualified for a job, there are many others just like you who are just as qualified. When you’re at a job fair be aware that your first impression may be your only opportunity to make an impact, so make it count. Ask intelligent questions and stay enthusiastic.

The key is not to apply for just one or two part time or full time jobs and expect to get a call back. You must apply to many jobs to create many opportunities to become hired. Look for jobs that interest you and apply to those companies in a variety of locations. Companies have no idea who you are so it is crucial that you don’t take it personally if you don’t get hired immediately. If you use all the tools mentioned this will not guarantee you a job but surely increase your chances. Apply to jobs early and often and don’t be afraid to make phone calls, meet with employers, and spreading the word about your job search. Applying for jobs can be a job in itself with filling out endless application forms, making forms calls, meeting with employers for job interviews. All this is necessary to earn a position in the field of your choice.

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
