The Comcast Applied AI for Customer Experience team is an innovative research group within Comcast’s Technology & Product organization with offices in Washington DC, Philadelphia and Denver that engages in groundbreaking research to re-invent customer experience for Comcast’s 22 Million consumers using AI and machine learning.

We are currently looking to hire a lead researcher. (S)He will be:

Responsible for identifying complex problems and developing and deploying novel prototypes and algorithms to solve them. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

Core Responsibilities:

Strives for the successful completion of high profile, revenue impacting programs that use machine learning as essential components. Determines the technical objectives of an assignment. Could potentially mentor junior engineers as well as contribute as an individual contributor on key projects.

Leads the design of prototypes, partnering with Product Managers and other Business Partners on development that:

Demonstrates AI/ML Research work related to one or more of the following areas:

Customer experience improvement using virtual assistants (chatbot).

machine learning and big data analytics for predictive modeling and proactive action recommendation.

Wi-Fi network modeling and optimization.

-Help with Product discovery and integrate research output into engineering code base. Conducts studies to support product or application development

Collaborates with teams outside of immediate work group. Represents the work team in providing solutions to technical issues associated with assigned projects. Collaborate with the ML platform team to remediate model issues and provide subject-matter expert opinions on model improvements.

-Drive innovation on improving the speed, coverage and control of high-speed internet data.

-Perform model validation activities including validation report write-ups, identification of model risks, and development of benchmark models.

Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, confluence pages, white papers, presentations, test results, technical manuals, formal recommendations and reports. Contributes to the company by creating patents, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and other intellectual property.

-Develop new algorithmic solutions and technical requirements of custom designs for future products and applications.

Designs and implements end-to-end solutions using optimization and other advanced computer science technologies and owns live deployments. Aggregates huge amounts of data and information from large numbers of sources to discover patterns and features necessary to automate analytical models.

Keep track of developments of relevant fields both in academia and industry. Attend relevant conferences and publishing research results is strongly encouraged. Presents papers and/or attends conferences, as well as displaying leadership in these areas.

Conduct research in an incremental manner thereby enabling faster integration of technology into products. Tests and evaluates solutions presented to the Company by various internal and external partners and vendors. Completes case studies, testing and reporting.

Mentor a diverse team of junior engineers in machine learning techniques, tools and concepts. Provides guidance and leadership to more junior engineers. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Nice to have:

Strong technical and problem-solving skills in machine learning and big data.

Advanced knowledge of statistical and machine learning models (e.g., logistic regression, time series analysis, random forests, SVMs, XGBoost, RNNs). Reinforcement Learning (RL) with a focus on Contextual Bandits techniques is) is highly desired.

2 years of experience in machine learning, advanced statistical models, and AI research, Wi-Fi network modeling, optimization, localization and radio resource management. Domain knowledge on Wi-Fi/HSD/video preferred.

Strong programming skills on big data analytics (e.g., Python, R, Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Spark, etc.) and/or embedded programming (C/C ).
