JOB OVERVIEW

In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day.

The College of Medicine, UC Cancer Center is recruiting for a Clinical Research Project Manager. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.  The Clinical Research Project Manager will actively participate, plan and evaluate multiple, complex and/or multi-faceted research programs for the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office (CTO). 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*Manage all biospecimen logistics in support of UCCC Clinical Trial Office and the UC Biorepository, including but not limited to, collection and handling of human biospecimens for industry sponsored clinical trials, investigator initiated clinical trials, translational research, and biobanking. *Communicate and coordinate with UCCC CTO and Shared Resources personnel, clinicians, and clinical staff to ensure timely collection, and/or receipt of biospecimens. *Perform and train personnel on biospecimen processing, storage, and delivery/shipment following specified standard operating procedures.  This will include:

*Ensuring that samples match the protocol and informed consent *Maintaining accurate receiving, storage, and shipment records (chain of custody) for human biospecimens (tissue, blood, etc.), including creating a biospecimen processing reference manual for staff. *Process clinical trial specimens and maintain related documentation in accordance with the study-specific lab manual or protocol  *Review the requirements for clinical trial correlative sample collection and processing feasibility in collaboration with the clinical trials office and translational shared resources.

*Ensure equipment calibration is appropriately documented for compliance.

*Refrigerators and freezers (including temperature monitoring equipment) *Biological safety cabinets *Centrifuges

*Other management activities will include:

*Directly supervise UC Biorepository and CTO laboratory personnel  *Assist in lab planning, budget, and resource allocation. *Ensure timely and correct invoicing for services rendered where appropriate. *Ensure that laboratory safety and compliance training for all staff is current.  *Assist with clinical trial and translational research biospecimen collection and processing procedure design, writing, and implementation. *Provided biospecimen data for progress reports for grants/trials. *Stay current on scientific literature for best practices for biospecimen handling and processing and act as a resource for biospecimens for the UCCC. *Assist in capture and assessments of project metrics including meeting project milestones.  

REQUIRED EDUCATION

*Bachelor's Degree *Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Five (5) years related experience.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED

*Experience in an academic or clinical setting. *SoCRA or ACRP certification.
