Welcome! We hope to find a great Researcher who shares our passion for distilling complex topics into entertaining, educating videos and that can create outstanding research packages for How to Survive and other video channels.
Underknown is a Toronto-based social video company producing highly engaging, data-driven web series devoted to science, history, geography, and culture. We currently run half a dozen web shows on a daily basis, including How to Survive and “What If”, the #1 Science show on Facebook Watch. Our Underknown stories, hypothetical possibilities, extraordinary creatures and amazing facts have been watched for a total of more than 3 billion minutes (that’s almost 5,700 years) and amassed over 20 million followers.
We all sit on a treasure trove of untold wonders known in our world of Science, History, Geography, and Culture. Our stories are true, but either unknown or Underknown. We aim to bring the marvel of these narratives, images or facts to the consciousness of our viewers and hope that these inspiring tales make us look to the skies rather than screens. We are looking for researchers and story finders that can help us to find the best information to create How to Survive videos. A science background (biology, chemistry, physics, engineering and materials science) would be an asset.
What we offer:
- A role of a freelance researcher at Underknown.
- One research package per day, five per week.
- Paid at $80USD (per brief rate)
- You can work at home or anywhere in the world. (Although you need to have good internet and command of English.)
- Training on how to create your research package.
- The subjects and videos you help to create will be watched by millions of people around the world.
- Paid bi-weekly on a per-research package basis through the platform we hire you.
You will be working remotely via Slack and Trello with our team that is based in Toronto, Canada.
