About the role:
We are seeking an outstanding Research Associate to join the Applications group at 10x Genomics. This is a unique multi-disciplinary position that will work closely with a variety of groups including Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, Marketing and Support. You will play an important role in expanding the reach of 10x product by demonstrating their ability to address complex biological questions. The ideal candidate should have experience working independently in a biochemistry, molecular biology, or cell biology laboratory, have exceptional attention to detail, and be able to critically analyze data and communicate results to the team. You must bring a can-do attitude and sense of purpose to the job, flexible in changing direction and methods, thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at managing multiple priorities, able to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization and have the prior work experience needed to quickly learn protocols.
What you will be doing:
* Planning and execution of experiments, accurate recording of details, in-depth analysis, and reporting of these results through documentation and presentations.
* Development and optimization of protocols for single cell and/or spatial products. Preparation of customer-facing technical documentation, including workflow descriptions and annotated datasets for 10x single cell NGS and Spatial products.
* Perform and troubleshoot experiments to support new applications of 10x genomics products.
* Work within multidisciplinary teams.
* Responsible for supporting external collaborations for validation of single cell NGS and Spatial products.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* BS/MS in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering, or related field.
* 2-5 years relevant laboratory experience in life science applications, such as: in vitro assays/models, in vivo disease models, next-generation sequencing library preparation, microscopy, PCR, or other nucleic acid or protein-based technologies.
* Experience with cell culture, manipulation of primary cells, tissue processing
* Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets and communicate results in a clear and concise manner.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Knowledge of NGS and related applications (e.g. RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, etc.).
* Experience troubleshooting and optimizing molecular biology assays.
* Experience in running single cell or spatial transcriptomics workflows strongly preferred
* Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization, which requires flexibility and a willingness to learn new techniques and methods.
Additional desirable skills to have:
* Experience with flow cytometry and/or cell sorting (FACS)
* Experience processing human biopsies/tissue samples
* Experience with histology,
immunohistochemistry,
cryosectioning, immunofluorescence
* Familiarity with QC of NGS data.
* Experience in interpreting the biological findings from an experiment and understanding what impact they may have.[Insert Job Description]
