Introduction
The Legislative Reference Bureau (LRB) provides nonpartisan, confidential legal, research, and information services to the Wisconsin Legislature. The LRB drafts all legislation for introduction in the legislature, writes analyses of legislation, conducts legal, public policy, and historical research, prepares legal memoranda, and provides information about the legislature and its proceedings. Appointments are made on a nonpartisan basis.

Positon Summary
A legislative research analyst supports the work of the Wisconsin Legislature by assembling, analyzing, and synthesizing information for legislators and legislative offices. A legislative research analyst also provides information to state and local government agencies and the public.
The anticipated start date for this position is negotiable.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have graduate academic preparation and general knowledge of state government and public policy. Successful candidates will have the following traits and abilities:
Familiarity with academic, private, and government research resources.
Excellent writing skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and written and oral communication skills and good-natured interpersonal sense.
The ability to gather and analyze resource materials and present findings quickly and accurately.
The ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work with a broad range of people.
Job Details
Provide information to the Wisconsin Legislature, legislative offices, state and local government agencies, and the public.
Perform research for legislative offices and present findings in clear and effective memos, via email, in person, or over the telephone.
Write brief reports or long publications on public policy topics and areas of legislative concern.
Develop expertise on Wisconsin government, legislation, law, and the legislative process.
Salary Information
The starting salary range is between $65,000 to $70,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience. This position is in the unclassified state service and receives the same fringe benefits available to other state employees.
