HJF is seeking a Research Assistant II
to support the
Val G. Hemming Simulation Center
(SIM) located in Silver Spring, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to SIM.
The Research Assistant II will perform research and/or development in collaboration with other scientific and technical staff for projects. Exercises technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Provides training and guidance for lower level Research Assistants and research staff.

Responsibilities:
Performs complex data analysis and interpretation and verifies and corrects data entry. (10%)
Performs complex research tests, determinations, and analyses involving multiple procedures and a variety of technical approaches. (10%)
Develops methods and procedures for experiments and investigations. Writes and assists with experimental results for publication in technical and peer-reviewed journals. (30%)
Oversees study scheduling, subject enrollment, set-up of data collection devices and data collection events to include post-participation discussion. Provides quality control of data integrity and storage and documents experiment results. (20%)
Documents current or new procedures or protocols for sample selection, data collection, data processing, and/or statistical estimation. (20%)
Mentors, reviews, and supervises junior research staff in the planning, execution, and analysis of experiments. (10%)
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of standard research techniques; ability to follow general instructions; good communication and analytical skills.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience is required.
Work Environment:
This position takes place in a laboratory setting.
Work Arrangement:
This position is 100% on-site and has no teleworking capability.
Background/Security:
Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust and a Common Access Card (CAC).
