Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position to join a team led by Prof Vidal-Puig ( ****) where you will be responsible for supporting a programme of research focused on the use of stem cell-derived brown adipocytes to understand the molecular mechanisms driving human brown adipose tissue development and maturation. The position is supported by an ERC Senior Investigator Award and will be based at the Wellcome Trust-MRC Institute of Metabolic Science at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..
TVPlab is an interdisciplinary team with expertise in metabolism, lipid remodeling, adipose tissue, signaling and stem cell biology. We welcome anyone with the Essential Skills to apply and especially encourage applications from individuals with expertise in the Desirable Skills listed below.
Essential Skills
- BSc, or equivalent degree, in Biology and/or Biochemistry or a related discipline
- Strong experience in mammalian cell culture
- Strong experience in the use of standard molecular biology techniques (e.g. Western blot, RNA/protein extraction, qPCR)
- Strong interpersonal skills and good communication skills
- Ability to work independently when required
- Excellent organisational and record keeping skills
Desirable Skills 
- Experience in iPSC culture
- Experience in CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing
- Experience in other molecular biology techniques (e.g. confocal microscopy, flow cytometry)
- Experience in bioinformatics and statistical analysis
